Get ready for the holidays

Hayley, a young athletic woman, gives a thumbs-up in her living room

Ever bought new gym kit and a new pair of trainers that are your favourite colour? My favourite colour for the summer is coral, so coral kit and trainers it is as I get ready for the summer holidays!

I always feel so excited to workout when I have new gear to wear. Not only that, you always want to look your best when you put on something new. It becomes an addictive and more importantly, positive cycle. Eat clean to prevent your tummy from bloating, wear new kit you feel good in, and you want to continue to eat clean and exercise more. Your workouts become more fun and instead of looking at that old shabby t-shirt you’ve been sweating in for months, or those winter trousers you’ve been hiding in all winter, your new summer collection suddenly becomes more appealing to wear, and will motivate you to get moving more!

I am going on holiday in 2 weeks! What better way to add to your methods of motivation to get you feeling energised, fit and active?!! Today I focused on the population’s all time favourite female trend of the moment, my glutes, quadriceps and hamstrings, (or to some, my butt and legs!) There is no question that this is a massive area for women to focus on especially in more recent years and there are a huge collection of exercises that focuses on these muscles. The Deadlift, Squat and Lunge to name a few of the most common, use large muscle groups, that burn a lot of calories, that can enhance the appearance of your lower body when trained in the right way for your goal, body type and with the correct technique used.

Pictures demonstrate a Lunge in Picture 1, Glute Bridges in Picture 2. Both of these exercises can be performed anywhere, using your own body weight. I tend to perform these at home or outside when the weather is nice completing up to 5 sets of 15-20 repetitions of each. I also love to do these exercises at the gym using weights, completing up to 4 sets of 10-15 repetitions of each.

There is always an option for all abilities, whether you are a novice to exercise, or are already advanced. It is about finding your key to keep you motivated, and about having the knowledge, or having someone with you to teach you the knowledge when you exercise to ensure you get the results you are looking for.
